Neli, a bright, young Bulgarian woman, engaged to a well-off American panics and runs back home. She reunites with her drifter friends and the wild life of her past. Among stray dogs and strip clubs, Neli falls in love with her passionate but alcoholic best friend. When her fiancé arrives unexpectedly, Neli must make a choice between two opposing futures.

Faith Love and Whiskey is Kristina's directorial debut shot in her homeland of Bulgaria on super 16mm. It won Grand Jury Prize at the Dallas Film Festival, Kodak Best Cinematography Award at Slamdance and was nominated for Best Debut Feature by the Bulgarian Film Academy.  The name of the movie comes from the fact that Whiskey has replaced Hope in post-communist Bulgaria. Kristina first thought of the theme after reading an article in The Economist, which placed Bulgaria last place in the world in regards to happiness.

The main character is the symbol of the wave of Bulgarian immigrants who return home during summer holidays and abandon themselves to wild nights of partying and dangerous decisions but usually end up choosing the safety of their Western new homes. Being one of those immigrants, Kristina was interested in exploring that pull better in herself in order to come to terms with the sense of loss of home after cutting off one's roots.
